Dr Chapman’s Fertility Focus: Fertility Preservation for LGBT+ Individuals

Dr Chapman’s Fertility Focus is where we share the latest fertility information from the leading reproductive health conferences around the world.  For this focus snapshot on LGBT+ Fertility Preservation, we are sharing a highlight on inclusion from speaker Dr Orestes Tsonis, of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital (GSTT) at the BFS Fertility Conference in Edinburgh held in January 2026.

Dr Tsonis spoke of the importance of making fertility and fertility preservation accessible and compassionate for trans individuals.

Some gender-affirming treatments can reduce or remove fertility potential. Before hormones or surgery, we can discuss options to preserve eggs/sperm/embryos and other routes to parenthood

Your goals may change, so we can revisit fertility and family-building at any stage. Our role is to support a decision that fits with your values and timeline
